About Nathan Garrity
I am a father of three, an outdoor athlete, and an explorer at heart.
Most of my life is spent moving — backpacking into remote wilderness, climbing granite walls, riding singletrack, trail running alpine ridgelines, and chasing snow across mountain ranges. The outdoors has always been where I feel most alive.
But the ocean is where I feel most grounded.
Descending beneath the surface feels like stepping into another world — quieter, weightless, humbling. In that space, I am not the apex predator. I am simply a guest.
My work is driven by a deep respect for marine life and the privilege of sharing the water with creatures that have ruled it for millions of years. I am especially drawn to large predators — sharks in particular. They carry a presence that is powerful, misunderstood, and profoundly beautiful. Photographing them is not about drama. It is about truth.
Through my images, I hope to evoke the same sense of awe I feel in those moments — suspended in blue water, eye to eye with something ancient.
Each photograph is an invitation:
Slow down.
Look closer.
See what we are so lucky to share this planet with.
